Pool filters
Pool filters work in concert with pool pumps to effectively keep pool
water clean and circulating at all times. Filters are made to be specifically
compatible with certain pools and pumps and all those variables must
be considered before buying one.
Pool filters work using one of three main substances:
• Cartridge
• Sand
• Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.)
Each has a specialty method, but all filters function to remove grease,
dirt, and oil from your pool's water.
For high-end performance with low maintenance, look for a cartridge
filter. It removes particles smaller than the human eye and hosing it
off is all you have to do to clean it. Sand filters are the bestselling
filter out there because they are less expensive and very simple to
operate and maintain. Filtering with a diatomaceous earth filter results
in clean water that sparkles because the d.e. filter strips the pool
water of microscopic contaminants that have serious effects on water
clarity.
To decide which combination of pool pumps and filters will fit best
for your pool, work closely with your builder to determine the needs
and requirements of your pool's water volume. If it's a new pool, it
is worth the effort to obtain the best equipment right off the bat.
If you're planning remodeling or expanding an existing pool, any pool
professional will be happy to review all the elements of your project.
